There Is a Grand Canyon in Yellowstone!

Remember a while ago, I discovered and went gaga over Sweet Peach Crop Shop and bought three kits at one time?  Well, I am slowly and steadfastly working on using the kits.  Here is my second layout using their December kit.  It is a double-pager so it must count as two layouts right? lol.  At the end of it all, I look at it and think to myself, my goodness, it's so simple and almost boring!  But seriously, this took me four nights of tinkering to achieve!  To me, double-page, multi-photos with 4x6 photos layouts are quite the challenge to design.  Interestingly enough, up until four years ago, that's all I ever did.  Now I need lots of practice to get better with it.

Here is a close up of the banner using Maya Road's chipboard pieces.  I painted the scalloped banners with Shimmerz Pearlz in Espresso, and covered the top piece with Basic Grey papers.

Tonight, we go to First Born's school conference.  I am a little nervous about it, not entirely sure why.  She is by all accounts an extremely intelligent child whom we expect to excel at school.  Maybe once she gets older and grades are actually being handed out, it will be more measurable and understandable.  Meanwhile, there's the whole social aspect of school that is even less controllable and/or understandable.  She recently attended her first Peer Mediation session as apparently she and her BFF had some "major" issues with another student in her class.  It went well enough as the next day when I inquired about the relationship, it was "very good." This is only first grade yet...

I happen to think your spread is exceptional, but I am a clean and simple/graphic kind of gal. Hope things go well with your conference. I know I tend to talk about my kids a lot on your comments, but these conferences are a really useful too, even if you do end up hanging your head (like I have to when I'm told my boy doesn't focus well or has bad penmanship) Its a great way for the teacher to honestly tell you how your child is doing. Once again, Good Luck!

This is quite the fabulous 2-pager, Jing-Jing! The design flow is seamless, and I love the little touches like the double twine on the banner, & using labels and tiny stickers for both sections of the title. Just the right amount of embellishing, love it.

The tinkering paid off...this is a great two pager!! Love the banner strung across the pages, the detail of paint and paper on each banner flag, and the two stars in yellowstone!!

It looks fabulous Jing-Jing!!! I always enjoy looking at double pager (even if I don't create them that often) because I feel like they are a story on their own. I love your design, your details, the sizing of your photos.... it's just great!

Oh, I alway love seeing a double. Like you, that's all I used to ever do. Now I do them in this format: one pretty page, the opposing page is just photos .. period! LOL

Anyway, you've mastered it with your extraordinary skill. I love love love the banner!

Love your layout. So much to look at.
Peer Mediation Session....what the heck is that. Sounds a little structured to me. What happened to kids figuring it out on their own?

never you worry, as the years go by, the conferences get much easier. Know she is bright child and you raised her to be kind and wonderful...if there are little things that mortify you that the teacher says, remember, they are children and children do/say the darndest things! BTW, mine are bright, kind, generous and fun, and I have had a mortifying conference or two...and now they are 17 and 15...so it all works...

Jing-Jing, this is wonderful! I can't even begin to think how I would create a two-pager but I enjoyed looking at the embellishments as much as your fabulous photos. The little gear reading a map is just too cute! I love your little personal stories, too.
