Hey Sis, It's Palette 17

The Color Room palette 17 is up and here is my contribution to the Room this week. It's a cute little layout with pictures from way back when... They remain some of my most favorite photos of my girls.

Thank goodness for that sheet of Basic Grey in my stash and Cosmo's Earth Love.  These colors are tricky tricky tricky!!!  I misted the Technique Tuesday's heart chipboard with Grape Escape from Shimmerz to achieve that color.  The colors turned out almost exactly right, but this was a tough one, but go check out the DT examples, seriously, if that's not an indication that people enjoy different colors, I don't know what is!

So more about CHA... I finally got to meet Diane and Aimee from Graphic 45!  I served two years on Graphic 45's design team and it was quite surreal to meet them finally.  Diane hugged me for a minute and immediately mentioned my butterfly banner from two years ago. I was sincerely touched by her warmth. They are coming to Scrapfest at the Mall of America this September, which means they will be in my neck of the woods, which means I will have a chance to see them again and lend some help.  I look forward to it already. Lastly, I got my paws on this. I can't WAIT to make a mini with it! 

Where Should I Start...

I don't think there is a good way to encapsule my CHA experience in one blogpost. I have many photos to share and there is no way I can share them in just one post. My plan is to share one photo from CHA each time I blog in the next couple of weeks...

First of all, a huge thank you to Susan and SRM Stickers for giving me the chance to attend CHA, for everything you do for the design team members, and for your wonderful products, thank you!

I stepped into the SRM Stickers booth, 35 minutes late to the make-and-take that I was supposed to be hosting. When Susan threw her arms around me and told me that I was so much taller than she had imagined, I knew then, CHA was going to be a blast, and nothing like I imagined...

CHA turned out for me, a joyous "reunion" with my online friends, a star-struck meeting of many of my favorite scrappers and product designers and an occasional brush with celebrity. The products were cool, the lines were amazing, the booths were awesome, but it was these meetings of new old friends that delighted this extrovert's heart.

Here are Sarah, Deana, and Yours Truly. While I still don't know how to say Sarah's last name correctly, I got Deana's down. I bet Deana has us on a scrapbook page before I have the photos even printed! xxoo to you beautiful women!  Thank you for some seriously hilarious memories.

Scrapping with Jenny Using WIP

I'm a loner when it comes to scrapbooking. There are many reasons for this, but when I boil things down, there are two: #1 lack of practice; #2 the yapper within me.  Just ask Jenny!  lol.

We got together on Saturday and scrapped at the Scrapbook Shop!  While we did chat plenty, I think we both accomplished plenty as well.  I watched Jenny put together the cover of a Christmas mini together. It is so beautiful!  Just like the layout she posted here, it is THAT much more amazing in real life, really, truly, utterly. 

In between the chit-chats, I worked on my August WIP kit.  While I have a Cricut machine and the cartridge that contains the cut "Enjoy Life", I love the fact that Trish includes these cuts in her kit so they are ready to be used!  I added the stamped swirls, journaling and machine stitching after I got home.

I had been accused of dressing the kids for the occasion.  GUILTY as charged!!  Seriously, there's no need to make scrapping more difficult!! Why complicate things with a purple outfit for example, they can always wear that for grapes picking! LOL.

It's a Jungle out There

I feel clever, oh, so clever, I feel clever and witty and smart! And I pity any title who didn't make the cut tonight.

We have a raspberry patch, and the bushes grow like weeds! Every time I see it, I remark on its jungle likeness. Thanks to the Color Room Palette sixteen and Lydell's sketch, I came up with this way of doing my title. I feel clever... Do I need to sing again? LOL.

I started this layout trying to make a scene with those grass stickers. The Queen of Scenes: Deana Boston sent me these stickers a while ago.  You have to check out her work, it's so unique, so scenic, (and now that I've tried) so inimitable!  So this is the best I can do, my scene: some grass, lol, not that I'm complaining, but it's just not that... groundbreaking... lol

I think I flipped out when I realized that the set of Jungle stamps from My Favorite Things would work so perfectly with my layout!! I mean, check out this lady with the binoculars!! It is so me, so my style: so humorous, in this context :)

Story Time

It's been three years since I was last on maternity leave :) I have nothing but fond memories of those happy days. It seemed like I had nothing but time... home all day... acting as a feeding cow every three hours, getting up twice a night, oh yes... good times. LOL. So I don't miss the baby'ing, but the time off was nice... I do miss that :) If only I could have that without having to give birth first. LOL.

This layout is done with Midnight Rooster's July kit. I can't get over the gorgeous colors of this kit! Check it out and grab your own! The background of the misted paper is done using the technique in this video for Shimmerz. I used Jeni B Bleu Vibez, which is a perfect match with the July Midnight Rooster kit!

Seriously... I'm counting down the days to CHA. It's going to be a surreal experience for this scrapbooker!

A WIP July Layout Using MFT Stamps

The August WIP kit landed at my house today!  I am so looking forward to digging in! First I am posting the two layouts that have yet to make an appearance here on my blog :)  I stamped the sentiments from My Favorite Memories' Clearly Sentimental about You set. Sentiments aren't just for card makers. Use them as journaling!  I love it!

Sure I can use this summery fun Echo Park paper on a winter layout :) Banners work for winters too! lol.  I even painted the title "snow" with Shimmerz Blingz to make it shimmery like snow.  It's hard to see but please take my word for it :)  I am not dwelling on this one, winter will be here soon enough, sigh...

Next Saturday, I'm going to meet Jenny and scrapbook with her!!  I'm very excited because she is a very accomplished scrapbooker and I appreciate good grammar, hee hee!!  Then... the week after that is CHA!  I'm going for the first time. I'm going to meet a lot more people that I've admired over the fiber optics cables.  You know who you are and I hope I can remain calm and collected. :)

1 2 3 Whee with Palette 15

The Color Room has released a new palette! I totally dig these colors! I just want to move into the Sun Room of the inspirational picture, it's just too beautiful!

I used Studio Calico's stamps for the title, feels wonderful to use them :)  I also hand-stitched on the layout.  You can't tell, but I spritzed Shimmerz Vibez Grape Escape onto the purple paper and it is totally shiny and pretty. Also, I used a Pencilines sketch for this one.

This month, Purple Cows is sponsoring the Color Room with some moolicious prizes :)

Well, this is short and sweet, I gots to get back to playing Galaxy Hero, a really primitive arcade game on a kids' website DD is on.  Oh yeah, I'm rocking the game and earning lots of stars for DD!!!  What a good mom! LOL.

I wish there's more sneaks for their new collections.  Most importantly, I need to know if there is any new 97% complete stickers?!! 

Helmar ScrapDots and Quick Dry Adhesive

Helmar is having a video contest and interestingly enough, I have extolled Helmar's virtue in several posts and had wanted to do a video demo of the scrapdots for quite some time. I may not win, but they do have two products that I use often and love: Scrapdots and Quick Dry Adhesive.

Here is the layout I showed in the video.  I've held onto it for two months now, I really love it.  The "I" or the bone in the title is adhered using Helmar's Scrapdots.  Another thanks go out to Laina Lamb for her wonderful digital diecuts. The blue frame is cut from a free download from her blog. 

One last thing, the winner of the Midnight Rooster mini-kit giveaway has been sent to the "authorities."  It will be announced on the Midnight Rooster's blog.  Thank you for your lovely comments. Only after the winners were crowned, did I truly realize I am a German soccer fan :) after all, I was first captured and enraptured in 1990.  So yes, I'm heartbroken :)

Midnight Rooster July Reveal Give-Away

The Midnight Rooster's July kit Earth Love is up!  It is seriously amazingly well coordinated!  I love every little bit of the kit to pieces!  Here is one layout I did using this kit.  It's my favorite one :)  DH didn't want to look into the camera when I just wanted to do a few test shots.  I told him that I would erase them and he said that never happens.  Sigh... he was right :)

The Color Room Palette 14 and Auntie Anna

The Color Room Palette 14 is up! Isn't it gorgeous??!  I have seen some seriously drop-dead fantastic layouts in the gallery so far, I hope you give it a try!!!  I really can't get enough of this green, ribbet!

 

Uncle Steve has shown up several times on this blog, it's now Auntie Anna's turn! 

I used the Boho Blossom set of stamps from My Favorite Things. Unbelievably, I had the right ink colors for this palette to stamp the flower and the heart in this set!  I even used the words in the journaling.

I used the KI memories Pieces of Me, Evergreen, May 2005 release! Oh my goodness, unbelievable, isn't it, on so many levels!  I still love this collection as if it just came out yesterday. I still have so many sheets of this collection in my stash. And now, I just used a little of it on my layout, this is so exciting, lol.

Let's Go Fly a Kite

This is my favorite layout out of my bunch of layouts using the sold out July WIP kit.  It's pretty priceless that I captured her running with the wrong hand raised up to fly her kite :)  She did eventually catch on and I have photos to show/prove that too.  Too bad the flimsy kite only lasted a couple of times, otherwise, I'd have kite photos like I do strawberry ones :)

Here are a couple of close-ups collaged into one photo.  I punched out several colored circles and popped them out using 3-d adhesives.  I made a "flower" using the fabric in the kit. The look matched some of the stickers in the Echo Park's collection.

I am impatiently waiting for the WIP August kit now :)  I think it's going to be another knock-out kit!!  and... I think there will be another kite related layouts in my batch :) :) :)

Celebrate 4th of July

The photos are from two years ago now. They were much more willing to pose then, especially considering one of them couldn't walk and had no choice :)  No such luck this 4th of July, oh well...

I used the stickers for the title, the circle border, and on the chipboard stars :)  This wraps up a quick post, thanks for stopping by!

Love the Color Room Palette 13

The first time I saw this week's inspiration photo and palette, I thought, "oh this is going to be a cake walk!"  Heck, there are cakes in the photo after all!  Three weeks... it took me three long weeks to finally conquer this one.  So much for cake walking or cake eating!  Ultimately, I was so inspired by the amazing creations by the Color Room members using Lydell's sketches!  I had to give it a try and not be deterred by the flowers!  I do so much love the result!

By the time I did this layout, I have received my big shipment of Shimmerz products, so I really went to town on this one.  The pink chipboard bracket was brown.  I painted it with pink acrylic paint, a few coats.  Then I topped it off with two coats of Teresa Collins Ballet Slipper Pearlz. The end result looked fantastic!  It's pearlescent, smooth with a gorgeous sheen! 

I painted the chipboard "love" at the bottom with Blingz "flashee fushia" and spritzed the paper and the other "love" chipboard with "Licorice."  At the end of of this palette, I really love this layout and had great fun trying out my new Shimmerz products.
